With a single press of a key, the world opens. Avis’ “Unlock the World” transforms a simple moment—unlocking a car—into a powerful metaphor for exploration, adventure, and boundless possibility.

Filmed in stunning black and white, this cinematic commercial embraces the beauty of contrast, using light, shadow, and vast landscapes to create an atmosphere of timeless elegance and discovery. Shot across Chile’s most breathtaking locations, the film seamlessly blends urban life and raw nature, inviting the viewer to step into a world waiting to be explored.
Symbiosis, production design played a crucial role in bringing this vision to life. From a multistory car park to the expansive wilderness, every environment was carefully curated to embody the campaign’s essence. One of the film’s most striking elements was the integration of wildlife—a creative decision that deepened the metaphor of freedom and movement. We worked closely with a variety of animals, including deer, birds, llamas, an iguana, and horses, ensuring that each moment felt natural, seamless, and emotionally resonant. These interactions between vehicles, landscapes, and animals reinforced the idea that the world is alive, interconnected, and waiting to be unlocked.

Directed by Marcus Söderlund through Academy and launched during the England vs. Costa Rica World Cup match, the film’s striking aesthetic and the nostalgic melody of “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” create a sense of wonder and liberation.

More than a commercial, “Unlock the World” is an invitation—a reminder that every journey begins with a choice.
